FNSS Gathers Military Models for the 12th Plastic Battle Armor Modelling Show

The event, which is the only scale modeling competition organized under the sponsorship of a defense company, will last for 2 days.

The competition, which will bring together the modeling communities and its open to modelers worldwide. This exclusive event promises an enjoyable experience for the participants with the model exhibitions, workshops, and an armored vehicle static displays and live demonstrations.

COMPETITION RULES

CATEGORY I

Military Tracked Land Vehicles 1914-1945 World Wars - 1/35 Scale - (Code: 1K)

This category covers all military tracked land vehicles served in any region of the world from 1914 to 1945. Model kits made from materials such as plastic, resin and metal, and with any type of detail set, can compete in this category. It is not mandatory to present the model manual as a reference. Figures may be presented with the vehicle, but they have no influence on the evaluation of the model. Participants are not required to use a model base; bases will not be taken into consideration during the evaluation.

This category is divided into the “MASTER” and “HOBBY sub-categories. Participation in the "Master" or "Hobby" sub-categories is down to the participants’ own initiative. Unless the contestant explicitly states the sub-category, all models will be evaluated in the "Hobby" sub-category.

CATEGORY II

Military Wheeled and Semi-Tracked Land Vehicles 1914-1945 World Wars - 1/35 Scale -  (Code: 2K)

This category covers all military wheeled and semi-tracked land vehicles served in any region of the world from 1914 to 1945. Model kits made from materials such as plastic, resin and metal, and with any type of detail set, can compete in this category. It is not mandatory to present the model manual as a reference. Figures may be presented with the vehicle, but they have no influence on the evaluation of the model. Participants are not required to use a model base; bases will not be taken into consideration during the evaluation.

CATEGORY III

Modern Military Land Vehicles from 1945 and Onwards - 1/35 Scale -  (Code: 3K)

This category covers all military land vehicles that have served in any region of the world since 1945. Model kits made from materials such as plastic, resin and metal, and with any type of detail set, can compete in this category. It is not mandatory to present the model manual as a reference. Figures may be presented with the vehicle, but they have no influence on the evaluation of the model. Participants are not required to use a model base; bases will not be taken into consideration during the evaluation.

This category is divided into the “MASTER” and “HOBBY sub-categories. Participation in the "Master" or "Hobby" sub-categories is down to the participants’ own initiative. Unless the contestant explicitly states the sub-category, all models will be evaluated in the "Hobby" sub-category.

CATEGORY IV

Military Figures (Code: 4K)

All figures of a scale of 1:35 or above, belonging to any historical period and nation, and made from basic materials such as plastic, resin and metal are eligible for the contest.

All figures in compliance with the description in the title, including figures of desktop games, are eligible for the contest, regardless of their scale.

Historical, military and/or fantasy busts of a scale of 1:9 and lower are eligible for the contest.

Figure presentation should not include more than one figure, but complementary figures (such as children or animals) may be added. These will be considered during the evaluation as well. A base is not required for the presentation of the figures. However, bases enriching the figure presentation will be subject to evaluation. It is not compulsory to present the historical document, the construction or painting manual as a reference. Evaluation criteria will be based on the basis of construction, detailing, painting, finishing and presentation.

CATEGORY V

Diorama (Code: 5K)

All dioramas produced from any type of material and sold with handmade or ready to use bases can participate in this category. All figures, equipment, weapons, buildings, plants, animals, surface details and geological structures used together with the military vehicle on the diorama will be considered in the evaluation. Dioramas with vehicles in which only a flat surface (less than 15x15 cm) has been used, that lacks either buildings, natural elements or surface shapes and doesn’t include any figures, will not be included in this category. Instead, they will be transferred to another suitable category by the judges.

Evaluation criteria’s are as follows:

  • Theme and composition
  • Authenticity and realism according to the time frame
  • Creative use of materials
  • Fixing

CATEGORY VI

1:48 Scale (Code: 6K)

This category covers all military land vehicles that have served in any region of the world since 1914. Model kits, out of the box, of a scale of 1:48, made from materials such as plastic, resin or metal, and with any type of detail set, can participate in this category. It is not mandatory to present the model manual as a reference. Figures may be presented with the vehicle, but they have no influence on the evaluation of the model. Participants are not required to use a model base; bases will not be taken into consideration during the evaluation.

CATEGORY VII

1:72 Scale (Code: 7K)

This category covers all military land vehicles that have served in any region of the world since 1914. Model kits, out of the box, of a scale of 1:72, made from materials such as plastic, resin or metal, and with any type of detail set, can participate in this category. It is not mandatory to present the model manual as a reference. Figures may be presented with the vehicle, but they have no influence on the evaluation of the model. Participants are not required to use a model base; bases will not be taken into consideration during the evaluation.

This category is divided into the “MASTER” and “HOBBY" sub-categories. Participation in the "Master" sub-category is down to the participants’ own initiative. Unless the contestant explicitly states the sub-category, all models will be evaluated in the "Hobby" sub-category.

CATEGORY VIII

"What-if" Land Vehicles (Code: 8K)

This category covers vehicles that are fictional and used in any time frame, and vehicles modified according to a reference or imagination, or any model imagined to be used on land. Model kits, out of the box, of any scale, made from basic materials such as plastic, resin or metal, detailed with any type of detail set or modified by using these types of materials can participate in this category.

For example, this category covers all fictional land vehicles such as all civil vehicles based on scientific data and/or imagination, wheeled and/or military vehicles, robots, fantasy fiction, sci-fi and post-apocalyptic vehicle types.

A base is not required for this category. However, bases enriching the presentation will have a positive effect on the evaluation.

More than one figure should not be included, but complementary figures (such as children or animals) may be added. These will be considered during the evaluation as well.

Compositions having more than one figure and vehicle will not be evaluated; and a new sub-category called "Scaled Diorama Category" will be opened as applicable to participation.

It is not compulsory to present any documents or the construction or painting manual as a reference.

The evaluation criteria will be based on the basis of construction, difficulty of construction, painting, appearance relevant to the era and presentation.

CATEGORY IX

Military Land Vehicles used by the Turkish Armed Forces (Code: 9K)

  • This category covers all military land vehicles used by the Turkish Armed Forces in any region of the world, from 1909 to the present.
  • Model kits of any scale, out of the box, made from materials such as plastic, resin and metal, and with any type of detail set, can compete in this category.
  • It is not mandatory to present the model manual as a reference.
  • Figures may be presented with the vehicle, but they have no influence on the evaluation of the model.
  • Participants are not required to use a model base; bases will not be taken into consideration during the evaluation.

CATEGORY X

Young Modelers (Code: 10K)

  • This category is open to all participants under the age of 18 It is not a mandatory category for participants under the age of 18, and participation is voluntary.
  • Model kits of any scale, out of the box, made from materials such as plastic, resin and metal, and with any type of detail set, can compete in this category.
  • It is not mandatory to present the model manual as a reference.
  • Figures may be presented with the vehicle, but they have no influence on the evaluation of the model.
  • Participants are not required to use a model base; bases will not be taken into consideration during the evaluation.

RULES

  • Models that have previously won awards in Plastic Battle Armor Modelling Shows may not be entered into this contest. However, those models can be displayed in the event’s showroom area.
  • If necessary, modelers may be asked for references on their models by the jury.
  • If necessary, models may be moved into different or correct categories, and additional categories may be created or existing ones closed or merged by the jury.
  • Modelers may compete in multiple categories with multiple models. Every model will be independently evaluated and can be awarded.
  • Contestants hereby accept all of these rules, regulations and calls of the organizers.
  • In main categories with “Master” and “Hobby” sub-categories, a contestant with a model in the "Master" sub-category must compete in the "Master" sub-category in other categories as well.
  • Visitors and the contestants are obliged to follow the visitor rules of FNSS facilities.

MODEL SUBMISSION

Submissions will be accepted on Saturday, 31 August 2019 between 09:30 - 13:15 local time.

Modelers who do not wish to compete may display their models in the exhibition section.

ONLINE REGISTRATION

To speed up your registration process on the day of the competition, you may register your models at www.plasticbattle.com/register as of 05 July 2019

COMPETITION DATE

The judging will begin on Saturday, 31 August 2019, after 13:30 local time.

The award ceremony and display will take place on Sunday, 1 September 2019, at 13:00 local time.

RETRIEVAL OF MODELS

Modelers may retrieve their models on Sunday, 1 September 2019, after 15:00 local time.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF COMPETITION RESULTS

Results will be announced during the ceremony on 1 September 2019, and published online at PlasticBattle Armor Modeling Show, Facebook page, www.plasticbattle.com and www.fnss.com.tr on the same day.
